Our MSC Seascape Yacht Club Experience: The Little Things That Made It Special

Gala night on the stairs leading from Yacht Club lounge to restaurant

Coffee and breakfast delivered to our room each morning. A quiet lounge we loved coming back to. A butler who escorted us to shows, and a familiar face making sure our room had everything we needed.

Brian and I recently sailed on MSC Seascape, and our first experience in the MSC Yacht Club was fantastic. This was our fourth MSC cruise, so we already knew we enjoyed the cruise line. But Yacht Club added a level of comfort and personal attention that made this trip feel especially luxurious.

We loved the suite, the dining, and the private spaces. Maria and Ram made us feel so special, and we loved getting to know them throughout the week.

What Is MSC Yacht Club?

MSC describes Yacht Club as a “ship within a ship,” and after experiencing it, that description makes sense. You have a private section with its own suites, restaurant, lounge, and pool deck, along with butler and concierge service. You can enjoy the entertainment and activities throughout the ship, then return to a quieter space whenever you want.

The main Yacht Club inclusions and amenities include:

  • Butler service and a dedicated concierge team available around the clock.

  • Priority embarkation and disembarkation.

  • An exclusive restaurant with flexible dining times.

  • The Top Sail Lounge, with drinks, light bites, and afternoon tea.

  • A private pool and sun deck with whirlpools and poolside dining.

  • The Premium Extra Drink Package, usable throughout the ship, within its menu limits and policies.

  • Browse Wi-Fi for two devices per person, with a streaming upgrade available at an additional charge.

  • Access to the MSC Aurea Spa thermal area.

  • Included minibar beverages, replenished daily.

  • Room service, which we enjoyed every morning without an additional charge.

  • Reserved theatre seating and assistance from the butler team.

  • Suite comforts such as upgraded bedding and a pillow menu.

  • Access to digital newspapers and magazines.

On itineraries visiting Ocean Cay, Yacht Club guests also have access to an exclusive beach area and Ocean House. Our sailing did not visit Ocean Cay, so that is a benefit we have yet to experience.

There are still extras you can purchase, including specialty dining, spa treatments, excursions, and cabanas. Thermal access is included; a massage or other spa treatment is separate. Included drinks are subject to the package rules rather than every bottle or drink on board being covered.

Maria and Ram Made Us Feel So Special

Our butler, Maria, and junior butler, Ram, were a huge part of what made this experience memorable.

Maria escorted us onto the ship on embarkation day and later took us to the theatre, where Yacht Club guests had a reserved seating section. She also escorted me to the spa when I wanted to enjoy the thermal area on a port day.

One helpful difference from our previous MSC cruises: we did not need to make theatre reservations for the shows we attended as Yacht Club guests. I am used to getting on board and immediately booking shows through the app or one of the interactive screens around the ship. This time, Maria helped us get settled in the reserved section. It was such an easy way to enjoy our evenings.

Ram serviced our stateroom at least twice daily. On the first day, I asked for an extra pillow and some ice. Both arrived within a few hours, and after that, he made sure I had ice each day without my having to keep asking.

Every evening, we came back to some new little delicacy waiting in the room. At each bedside, there was a glass, a bottle of water, and a Venchi chocolate. Those small touches made coming back to our suite something to look forward to.

The Top Sail Lounge Became Our Favorite Place

If I had to choose one space that defined our Yacht Club experience, it would be the Top Sail Lounge.

We started most days there and always ended our days there. It became our comfortable place to sit, enjoy a drink, talk, and slow down together.

On Seascape, the lounge is forward on Deck 16, with the Yacht Club restaurant forward on Deck 18. A spiral staircase connects the two. Our suite was also on Deck 18 within Yacht Club, which made getting to both very convenient.

The lounge had snacks available throughout the day, and we got very comfortable with that arrangement! Picking up a late-night snack to take back to our room became part of our evening routine.

Ordering drinks was so easy. In the lounge, we did not have to present our wristbands or cards or sign receipts for our included drinks. Everyone there was a Yacht Club guest. At bars elsewhere on the ship, a quick scan of our Yacht Club wristbands took care of our package drinks, still without paper receipts to sign.

It is a small detail, but it added to how relaxed the whole week felt.

Our Deluxe Suite: Extra Space We Really Appreciated

Our Yacht Club Deluxe Suite had a layout similar to a standard balcony stateroom, but it was noticeably wider. You do not realize how much that extra width changes a room until you experience it.

The balcony was wider, too, with space for three chairs and a footstool. Inside, we had plenty of storage and closet space.

The drinks in our minibar were included, along with the water near the Nespresso machine. The packaged snacks initially supplied in the room were a one-time offering and were not replenished, but Ram's evening treats gave us something new to enjoy anyway.

There was one practical drawback: charging our devices.

Our suite had two U.S. outlets positioned so close together that our charging blocks made using both difficult. There were two USB-A ports at the desk and two more on the left side of the bed, but several of our devices use USB-C connections. We ended up taking turns charging things.

For a room we otherwise loved, that was frustrating. Before sailing, check the ship's current rules for permitted charging accessories and bring compatible cables for your devices.

Breakfast Delivered Every Morning? Yes, Please.

Room service breakfast became one of the biggest highlights of our trip.

There were breakfast order cards in our suite. We selected our items and delivery time, then hung the card outside our door by 2 a.m. for the following morning. Maria delivered our breakfast every single day.

Coffee and a light breakfast in our room each morning felt glorious.

I like scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon, but that combination was not listed on the menu. I tried writing it in, unsure whether they could accommodate it. They did, and every morning afterward, my eggs arrived perfectly cooked just as I had requested.

Then there was the berry bowl. Fruit is usually easy to find on a cruise, but I especially love berries. This bowl had blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries, and I may have ordered two or three each morning.

That became our happy little routine: coffee, breakfast, and time to ease into the day together.

One afternoon, Brian and I were both working in our room when he decided he wanted a pepperoni pizza. MSC is known for its delicious pizza, after all! He picked up the phone and called the concierge desk, and about 20 minutes later, a piping hot pizza arrived at our door with plates and utensils. “Chef’s kiss!” experience ;)

Fresh pizza right to our stateroom :)

The Yacht Club Restaurant Was a Standout

The quality and service in the Yacht Club restaurant were as good as, and often better than, specialty dining we have experienced on cruise ships.

We ate most of our lunches and dinners there. The featured menu changed daily, so we had plenty of variety. On our sailing, filet mignon, a chicken dish, and a salmon dish were also available when we wanted something beyond the featured selections.

On the first night, the chef came out to greet us and explained that if we ever could not find something we liked, we should tell him or the staff. They would help us find something to enjoy.

One evening, my filet had a fatty section that made it a disappointing cut. Our lovely maître d', who was from Venice, noticed almost immediately as I cut into it. He took it away and quickly brought a replacement that was perfectly cooked.

That attentiveness mattered. The staff paid attention to whether we were enjoying our meals and responded quickly when something needed to be corrected.

A Pool Deck Where We Could Actually Relax

The Yacht Club pool deck on Deck 20 was another favorite.

During our sailing, loungers were always available when we wanted them, and the pool and whirlpools never felt overcrowded. There were very few children in the area that week, which added to the quieter atmosphere we enjoyed. Yacht Club welcomes families, so that can certainly vary by sailing.

The pool deck also offered buffet-style breakfast, lunch, and early afternoon snacks. On our trip, food service ended around 5:30 p.m., so it was a daytime option rather than a dinner venue.

We ate lunch there one day while enjoying the pool and whirlpools, and even the poolside food was delicious. It was convenient to stay in our swimsuits and enjoy lunch without heading back to change for the restaurant.

Cabanas were available to rent for an additional charge, but we were happy with the loungers and space already available.

Making Time for the Spa

I spent some time enjoying the MSC Aurea Spa thermal area, which is included for Yacht Club guests.

On the port day I visited, I did not need a reservation. For sea-day visits during our sailing, our butler needed to arrange a reservation. That is something to check with your butler early in the trip so you can plan the time you want.

I especially loved that the thermal area extended outdoors, with loungers and a whirlpool. Inside, there were saunas, a large whirlpool, aromatherapy showers, a snow room, and plenty of space to relax.

Having that included gave me another lovely way to enjoy a quieter part of the ship.

Exploring the Rest of Seascape

We loved Yacht Club so much that we spent most of our onboard time there, but Seascape itself is beautiful. The sparkling Swarovski crystal staircases in the atrium are gorgeous, and we enjoyed the theatre shows.

Le Cabaret Rouge was an interesting venue, with dramatic red and black decor and a layout that took some getting used to. The stage and dance floor were on the lowest level, with upper levels overlooking them. Depending on where you stood or sat, the sightlines could be awkward. During the day, the back of the venue offered wonderful views of the ship's wake.

We walked through the main buffet once, and it was crowded enough that we happily returned to our Yacht Club oasis. We never ate a meal in the main buffet that week, so I cannot compare its food. We simply enjoyed our quieter dining options too much to give them up.

Venchi: My Favorite Treat Outside Yacht Club

How could I forget the fabulous Venchi chocolate bar? Outside Yacht Club, this was my favorite place. If you love chocolate, this is your place!

I visited on two different days for a gelato milkshake. First, I tried the Cremino, a hazelnut flavor, and another day I chose tiramisu gelato. Both milkshakes were over-the-top delicious. I would have happily had one every day, but it is still a milkshake!

One thing to know: MSC drink packages do not cover purchases at Venchi, including the Venchi gelato stop at the aft of Deck 8. My milkshakes were about $12 each with tax during our sailing. Personally, I did not mind paying extra. They were that good, and I will gladly pay it again for this indulgence.

How Specialty Dining Compared

We did venture out for specialty dining, with mixed results.

As an MSC Voyagers Club Diamond perk on our sailing, we had a complimentary specialty dining experience and chose Butcher's Cut. My lobster bisque and ribeye were delicious. Brian paid an upgrade for a larger ribeye that was supposed to be a better cut, but mine turned out to be the better piece of meat. In hindsight, we probably should have sent his back.

We also tried Kaito Sushi Bar. I admit the conveyor belt novelty drew me in! Plates were color coded by price, and we chose to order à la carte rather than the $40-per-person set menu offered during our visit. The set menu included things I did not want, although our final bill probably came out close to the same amount. Service at both restaurants was fair to good.

Hola! Tacos & Cantina had been fantastic on a previous MSC cruise, so I was excited to return. During this sailing, its all-you-can-eat option was $24.99 per person, with items such as nachos, guacamole, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and desserts. This visit was just okay, with slower service than we had hoped for.

Those meals reinforced how much we appreciated the Yacht Club restaurant. For us, it consistently delivered the best combination of food, service, and personal attention. Specialty dining prices and menus can change; these were the options we encountered on our trip.

How We Ended Up in Yacht Club

We actually booked this sailing in a regular balcony stateroom for approximately $749 total for both of us. About 45 days before departure, we received an invitation to bid on an upgrade.

We submitted a total upgrade bid of $1,500 for an interior Yacht Club room. The system described it as a “fair” bid. Our bid was accepted, and to our surprise, we were assigned a Yacht Club balcony suite instead.

Our final cruise booking cost came to approximately $2,300 total for both of us, including the Yacht Club upgrade, all taxes, port fees, and gratuities. That was an exceptional outcome for the experience we received.

I share that as our personal experience, rather than a price to expect for Yacht Club. Upgrade invitations, successful bids, and room assignments vary. If Yacht Club is the experience you know you want, I would look at booking it directly rather than planning a vacation around the hope of an upgrade.

Would We Sail Yacht Club Again?

Absolutely.

The extra space was wonderful, and the private dining and pool areas were a pleasure. But what I keep thinking about is Maria arriving with breakfast, Ram remembering the little things we needed, and our evenings in the Top Sail Lounge.

For Brian and me, this cruise gave us time to slow down, enjoy each other's company, and feel thoroughly taken care of. Yacht Club made that easy.

If you are curious about MSC Yacht Club, I would love to help you compare the options and see how it fits your vacation and budget. Having experienced it myself, I can help you understand what those included benefits actually feel like once you are on board.
