Europe

Where there is no wine there is no love
— Euripides

Dreaming of that European vacation?

Europe is one of those trips people think about for a long time before they actually go.

And then when it’s time to plan it… it can feel overwhelming pretty quickly.

There are so many places you could go that it’s hard to figure out where you should go.

Why Europe?

Europe just feels different.

You’re walking through places that have been around for hundreds—sometimes thousands of years… but at the same time, it’s just everyday life for the people who live there.

You can spend the morning touring something like the Colosseum
and that night be sitting outside somewhere having a long dinner that turns into a whole evening.

That mix is what makes it so special.

It’s really easy to try to fit too much into a Europe trip.

There’s so much you could see that it’s tempting to keep adding “just one more place.”

But the trips people enjoy the most usually have a little more breathing room.

A few nights in one place.
Time to sit down and enjoy a meal instead of rushing to the next thing.
Moments where you’re not checking a list—you’re just there.

There’s more than one way to do Europe

Some people want everything mapped out while others want flexibility.

Neither is right or wrong, it just depends on how you like to travel.

Small Group Tours

This is the easiest way to do Europe if you don’t want to figure out all the logistics.

Hotels, transportation, and a lot of your sightseeing are already handled. You’re traveling with a group, but it’s usually well-organized and not overwhelming.

This tends to work well if you:

  • Don’t want to deal with trains, transfers, or logistics

  • Like having a guide to give context to what you’re seeing

  • Are going to Europe for the first time

  • Want a mix of structure and some free time

FIT Travel (Fully Independent Travel)

This just means your trip is built specifically for you.

Everything is arranged ahead of time—flights, hotels, transfers, tours—but you’re not tied to a group schedule once you’re there.

This is usually a better fit if you:

  • Want flexibility and a slower pace

  • Care about where you stay and the overall feel of the trip

  • Want to spend more time in fewer places

  • Have already been to Europe or know what you like

Some of my favorite places that I have visited:

Italy

Italy is one of those places where every stop feels a little different.

Rome is busy, historic, and full of those “I can’t believe I’m actually here” moments.
Florence and Tuscany are slower—wine, food, smaller towns, and just enjoying where you are.

It’s very easy to overplan Italy… and honestly, it’s better when you don’t.

We just recently visited Rome and Tuscany for my daughter’s college graduation, and going from walking through all that history in the city to being surrounded by vineyards in the countryside was one of my favorite parts of the trip.

Greece

Greece has a completely different vibe.

Athens gives you that big history moment.
Then once you get outside the city, everything slows down.

It’s more relaxed, more scenic, and just easy to enjoy.

If you’re thinking about Europe

Start with a couple of places that actually interest you.

Not what you feel like you’re supposed to see—what you want to see.

From there, we can build something that makes sense and doesn’t feel rushed.

Let’s plan it

If Europe is on your list, I can help you:

  • Narrow down where to go (this is usually the hardest part)

  • Put together a trip that actually flows well

  • Balance sightseeing with time to enjoy it

  • Avoid trying to do too much

This image is from my trip to Greece. This is Meteora, a majestic area of mountain-top Greek Orthodox monastaries. Visiting these monastaries that date back to the 14th century was a definite highlight of my trip. The grandeur is amazing especially with the difficulty that it took building these high on the mountains. ~Melissa
