ALASKA

Moose are basically squirrels here… and honestly, that tells you everything you need to know.

Alaska

Why Alaska?

Alaska is one of those trips that’s hard to explain until you’ve done it.

It’s not just pretty. It’s different.

The scale is bigger. The air feels different. You’ll be standing on a ship or a trail or even just a balcony with a cup of coffee… and everything just feels quiet in the best way.

Glaciers cracking in the distance.
Whales surfacing right in front of you.
Bald eagles just… everywhere.

It’s one of the few trips where you don’t have to try so hard to have a moment — they just happen.

The biggest question: Cruise, land… or both?

This is where most people get stuck.

Cruise

This is the easiest way to see Alaska.

You wake up somewhere new every day — Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway — and the scenery is nonstop. Glaciers, fjords, wildlife… all without unpacking more than once.

If you want a relaxing trip with incredible views, this is it.

Land

This is where Alaska gets deeper.

Denali. Wide open wilderness. Fewer people. More of that “wow, we are really out here” feeling.

You’ll see a different side of Alaska that you just don’t get from the coast.

Cruise + Land (my favorite!)

This is the sweet spot.

Cruise the coast, then head inland by train or guided tour.
This is how you get the full picture of Alaska not just what most people see.

What people don’t realize

  • Alaska is not a one-size-fits-all trip
The itinerary matters more here than almost anywhere else

  • Not all cruises are equal
Route, glacier access, and even ship size make a big difference

  • Timing matters
Wildlife, weather, and crowds all change throughout the season

  • The excursions can make or break your trip
Whale watching, glacier landings, dog sledding, rail journeys — this is where Alaska really comes alive

A few of my favorite moments

  • Taking a flight over the mountains and landing on a glacier (see below)

  • Whale watching in Juneau with mountains all around

  • Walking through small ports that feel completely untouched

  • That first time you realize there are bald eagles everywhere!

If Alaska is on your list… here’s my advice

Don’t rush it.
And don’t just pick something that “fits the dates.”

Alaska is one of those trips where the planning actually matters and getting it right makes all the difference.

Let’s plan it the right way

Whether you’re just starting to think about Alaska or ready to go, I can help you figure out:

  • The right itinerary

  • Cruise vs land vs both

  • The best time to go for what you want to see

  • What’s actually worth doing once you’re there
